A 45 minute Kalbarri experience that offers dramatic perspective and a true impression of these amazing wonders of nature inaccessible, and un-viewable, except by air.
Head towards the rugged and breathtaking Kalbarri National Park past Ross Graham lookout and then along the full length of the Murchison River Gorges.
The river has cut through the sandstone, allowing you to view steep rock faces with stunning white, red and purple rock layers as you pass close by.
Fly over Hawkeshead, Little Z Bend, Big Z Bend and Four Ways, an interesting formation of the river going one way and then two large cuts coming in from both directions.
Continue over the loop taking and Murchison House Station to Kalbarri town following the river to the river mouth.
At cliff top height view the Coastal Cliffs with their red sedimentary rock colours and continue to experience the unique Pink Lake at Hutt Lagoon, a strange spectacle that stands out dramatically from its surrounds.
The lake contains a pink hue created by presence of carotenoid-producing algae Dunaliella salina, a source of ß-carotene, a food-colouring agent and source of vitamin A.
The Pink Lake is approximately 70 square kilometres with most of it lying a few metres below sea level and fed by marine waters through springs.
After circling the lake head back along the coastal cliffs and over the town to the airport.~~~~ |
