Join your Maruku @Uluru tour at Maruku Arts Market Stall (Town Square lawn area) to commence a 1.5 hour Punu- Woodcarving Workshop. Over thousands of years, Anangu have developed a material Culture of rich variety and skills reflecting the environment and close relationship they share with their land. With skill and patience, the limited resources of the desert have yielded highly efficient weapons and tools of survival as well as beautifully crafted representations of the desert fauna. Have the unique opportunity to learn how the carvings are made and try your own skills out at burning the ancient symbols depicting stories into a wooden board or carving a pair of music sticks.
